Ways in which titles are presented

Ways in which titles are presented in opening sequences

The Conjuring
The opening sequence of The Conjuring consists of a series of still images with the opening credits layered on top of them. The first of these is the movie title. The opening sequence is clearly setting the tone for the rest of the film through the use of monotone pictures and text which adds a sense of eeriness.

Halloween
Orange is often the colour associated with halloween as it is the colour of pumpkins which are a key signifier of halloween as children carve faces into them for halloween. The use of orange in the title as well as a pumpkin next to the title is not really leaving much to the audience to figure out as it is so clear in its meaning.

IT
The opening scene of IT ends with the  boy (Charlie) reaching into a dark drainage hole which is as dark as the black background for the title. Inside the drain is the clown who is clearly going to be the antagonist throughout the movie and here is represented by the title as it is designed to look like it has been written in blood. Blood and the colour red are clear visual signifiers of a horror movie.

Insidious
Insidious is another iconic horror movie and uses the same colour scheme as 'IT'. Red text on a dark or black background is a clear generic convention of horror movies so is often used as it enables the audience to easily identify what kind of movie this is.
